Vancouver is legendary for our HEALTHY & FIT lifestyle.

Kitsilano, a Vancouver urban beach burb, is home to the most health conscious and stunningly gorgeous women and men on the planet.

Our obsession with nature is a catalyst for a healthy lifestyle.

We eat right and work out religiously. Until recently, we had the longest lifespan in North America, but unfortunately, since the Olympics came to town, we've been downgraded to second place due to a ridiculousely high cost of living that makes it hard for people to stay healthy.

It's an ironic twist when you consider the Olympics is supposed to promote sport and wellness. However, when you spend over 79% of your income on your mortgage or rent, being housepoor takes a toll on health.

Whistler Events

Cypress Mountain has SNOW Yeah Baby - too bad it was back in 2009

Can you spot
Shaun White 2010 Olympian shreddin' the pipe in this vid?

Most people in Vancouver and Whistler exercise outdoors at every chance possible. Millions every year jog, bike, blade or walk around the 9K paved path surrounding Vancouver's world famous Stanley Park.

The path is a seawall, and if there is one place you
must visit while in Vancouver, it has to be "The Wall."

Vistas on the seawall are stunning. On one side you have steep cliffs and old growth forest with 800 year-old giant trees, and on the other, the usually very serene Pacific Ocean. If you need gear there are a number of places to rent or buy bikes, blades or even skateboards, but you have to be careful because some of the shops gouge and have inferior gear.

Do your homework and you'll have a great time for a fair price.

If you want a more structured gym workout, we have that too, in spades. Vancouver is inundated with world class gyms, mostly because we have inclement weather for 80% of the year. It rains here - a lot, and when it pours people retreat indoors. As a result, our gym amenities and services are the best in the world, but once again, you have to shop carefully because when Olympics frenzy hit the city many prices spiked.

If you don't choose wisely you'll end up grossly overcharged.

Hosting the Olympics inspired some of our gyms to bump up their quality to meet the needs of Olympic athletes here for pre-Game training. Unfortunately, gouging is a hidden sport in Olympics regions and many gyms leverage the spirit, but don't deliver the goods. Shop carefully.

The posers are easy to spot. Just look for more mirrors than equipment.

Your best bet is to PLAN PLAN PLAN

When you get to Vancouver . . .
go to "The Wall," the Seawall !

It's the best place to bike, board, hike, skate
and meet sports and health oriented people.
