Vancouver is hardcore MultiCultural ... which means shopping is diverse, from high end Tiffany's to low end Wal-Mart, and everything in between for international athletes and tourists, especially Americans.

If you want it!     We got it ...

... but it's a good idea to shop online before
you get here so you know where to find it !!

By design, heavily guarded Olympic venues and compounds make it hard to move about freely. Terrorism is always a concern at the Olympics and even more so today. McDonalds has a food monopoly at all the venues and Olympic organizations installed a Supercentre at HBC instead of spreading souvenirs out in greater numbers among local merchants.

Spectators, who are force-fed fast food ... often feel trapped!

Shopping is great in Vancouver, but stores and locations are hard to get to in chaotic Olympic regions. You have to explore a bit online to locate the product or service, and then figure out how you're going to get to it.

Security checkpoints create havoc with buses, taxis and rental cars.

Olympic organizations very rarely get bus transportation right, and even as recently as Turin in 2006, they forced spectators to endure long hours traveling between hotels and venues. Taxicabs and rental cars were so scarce and chaotic smart retailers set up scheduled customer shuttles.

Transportation was also chaotic in Sydney Australia in 2000 and Salt Lake City in 2002. Driving anywhere in an Olympic region is a nightmare.

It's common to hear ... You can't get there from here!

Why does this matter?

Well, based on what we've seen in our 2010 region, it's rolling out in a similar manner in Vancouver, which means you won't have as much time as you thought to casually explore our incredible streets and hideaways.

It's important to know what you want, and where
to get it so you can make the best use of your time.

HOT SHOPPING SPOTS are spread out all over town.

Vancouver is basically a group of smaller towns that have grown together, which means it's a long way between the little city centres like 4th Ave, Robson, Denman, Kerrisdale, Metrotown, Yaletown, Commercial Drive, Point Grey, South Granville and a dozen other really sweet shopping spots. Robson Street is an old standby, and it's cool because they have a few high end shops like Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Tiffany's, but there are also way too many average, but overpriced franchises you can find at home for half the price. Robson is a crush at the best of times and even more insane during Olympic frenzy. Why torture yourself?

Look for hidden treasures outside the downtown core.
